Good evening My Foodie Followers…Tonight we dined at Zento Contemporary….A Sushi and Sake bar (zentocontemporary.com) …We arrived early…our hostess seated us in the Zen section of the restaurant. KC, our server, was quick to bring over water and took our cocktail order. I had the usual and Al enjoyed a Singha beer…he said it was light, crisp with a slight floral overtone. We started with a mix of appetizers of panko encrused calamari, 1/2 dollar sized crab cakes, and a shrimp and vegetable tempura. The calamari was good, but tasted a touch over cooked. I was disappointed. The crabcakes were divine and the tempura was tasty and expected. For our entrees, we started with a second round of drinks…for our order – I had a rainbow roll – it was a california roll inside, topped with salmon, tuna, yellowtail and avocado. Totally delish! Al ordered a 2 piece Unagi sushi – fresh water eel, 2 piece bronzino sushi, and an avocado roll. Overall, everything was tasty and fresh. As stated earlier, I was disappointed with the calamari. I also found the tempura to be plain and a tad boring…although still good. I award Zento Contemporary 3.5 Diva Crowns out of 5. Bon Appetit!
